As part of our Meet the Team Sunday series, we’re As part of our Meet the Team Sunday series, we’re introducing the people behind Legacy Wardrobes.

Meet Amy — Director of Design at Legacy Wardrobes. She’s an integral part of our success, with her hands in every aspect of what we do—from design and product selection to the client experience—helping shape not just our projects, but the standard we hold ourselves to.

I grew up as the youngest of four. I was a precocious theatre kid—around 9, I taught myself to sew on my mom’s old Singer. So if I wasn’t taking apart my sisters’ hand-me-downs to stitch into something new, I was belting Les Mis or rearranging my bedroom furniture for fun.

I was passionate, I was weird, and I loved working with my hands.

I never enjoyed school and couldn’t sit still in the classroom. So after attending one semester of fashion design school in Philly, I dropped out and got to work.

After countless odd jobs, I learned what I lacked in experience, I made up for in hard work (as the daughter of a small business owner, it was in my blood, I guess).

But what took me awhile to realize is that I didn’t need a degree to teach me to be a problem solver—and that being genuinely curious and interested in understanding people would be most important of all.

From merchandising, costume and set design, to alterations and custom sewn interior goods, I met some of the best teachers along the way. What I thought was a series of wrong turns turned out to be a scenic route. Every job gave me a new perspective I never knew I would need—until I got here.

That it doesn’t matter how you do it, it matters why you do it—and people are my why.

Because designing something great doesn’t just change how something looks—it changes how someone feels. It can change your life.

And legacy isn’t just about leaving something behind—it’s about leaving something better than how you found it.

This one is a perfect example of why “good enough” This one is a perfect example of why “good enough” storage usually isn’t actually working.

This closet was being used as a pantry, but the wire shelving made it hard to access anything. Items got lost, stacked, and forgotten—and using it daily was just frustrating.

So we took a different approach.

We removed everything and built a full custom pantry cabinet designed to function like part of the kitchen—not an afterthought.

• Matching door style, color, and hardware
• Full-extension drawers for easy access
• Pull-out shelves so nothing gets buried
• Clean, built-in look that blends seamlessly

Same space. Completely different experience.

This is what happens when storage is designed intentionally—not just installed.

If your pantry feels like a struggle every day, it’s probably not you—it’s the design.

This year we are introducing the team and telling This year we are introducing the team and telling our stories- starting with me!

I’m Kevin - founder of Legacy Wardrobes.

I built Legacy Wardrobes and this is what built me.

I grew up in Philly—and like a lot of people here, I came up the hard way.

Both my parents were addicts. My mom passed away when I was 7. I didn’t see my dad after that until many years later on Kensington Ave—he borrowed $20 from me and I didn’t bother seeing him again.

I dropped out of school at 14 and got into some bad situations and wound up in some rough places I shouldn’t have. But I was very lucky. I had a grandmother that gave me love and an uncle who showed me how to work.

Everything changed when I met my wife. We had a baby on the way, and that was the moment—it wasn’t optional anymore. I had to build something for us.

I started in my basement, nights and weekends, while working full-time as a construction helper. Eventually that turned into a 300 sq ft shop. Nothing fancy—just a place to figure it out.

I read, learned, practiced, made too many mistakes to count, got better. Taught myself a trade.

That’s how Legacy Wardrobes started. And what it’s become now—it’s not just me. It’s a team of 13 amazing people I’m proud of. People who show up, take pride in the work, and build something real together.

This isn’t just my story anymore. It’s ours.

A legacy isn’t given. It’s built.

🔨 Philly made me. Philly is who we build for.

This custom built-in proves you don’t need a huge footprint to create something beautiful. Finished with custom paint, framed glass doors, and tailored curtains hand sewn by our design director Amy to bring it all together.

What makes it even more special? Every piece you see was crafted by our team—because at Legacy Wardrobes, every employee is a craftsperson.

Design. Build. Detail. That’s the difference.

What makes Legacy Wardrobes different isn’t just w What makes Legacy Wardrobes different isn’t just what we build—it’s who we are.

In a world where everything is becoming faster, cheaper, and more transactional, it’s easy for spaces—and the people creating them—to feel interchangeable.

We don’t believe in that.

This year, we’re pulling back the curtain and sharing the stories behind the work—starting with our founder and continuing with every person on our team.

Because this has never just been about cabinetry. It’s about people, experiences, standards, and the care we bring into every home we step into.

When you work with us, you’re not just getting a design—you’re getting a team that genuinely cares about the outcome.

This is who we are.

This is what custom really means. We took an awkw This is what custom really means.

We took an awkward dormer space, removed a full wall, and designed angled cabinetry to perfectly match the architecture—turning what was unusable into a fully functional, built-in wardrobe.

No fillers. No wasted space. Just thoughtful design and precision craftsmanship.

This is the level we aim for on every project.

If you’ve got a challenging space, we’d love to show you what’s possible.

That’s me in front of the Municipal Services Building. I don’t remember exactly how old I was. I just know we were there because we needed to be.

That kid had no idea what was coming. The loss. The streets. The years of figuring it out alone.

No one expected him to amount to much.

This was one of our first true Legacy Wardrobe pro This was one of our first true Legacy Wardrobe projects installed in 2020.

Over 5 years later, the homeowner reached out because one drawer wasn’t closing smoothly.

When we checked it out, the cause was simple — one screw in the drawer slide had slowly worked itself loose after years of daily use.

A quick fix and everything was working perfectly again.

Moments like this are a great reminder that well-built storage systems are meant to last.

And when something small comes up years later, we’re always happy to help. So cool to stop back and visit one of our OG projects!

Some projects start with a tough decision. This r Some projects start with a tough decision.

This room had a unique architectural alcove with an arch between two small closets. It had character—but unfortunately it wasn’t functional storage for the homeowner.

To create a wardrobe that actually works for everyday living, we had to remove the existing structure and start fresh.

Now the space is transformed into a fully functional wardrobe system designed for organization, accessibility, and long-term use.

Sometimes great design means honoring the past… and sometimes it means making the hard call to build something better.

Swipe to see the transformation.

Sunday vibes at the new showroom. Walked in this Sunday vibes at the new showroom.

Walked in this morning, hung up the backpack, put a record on, and just sat for a minute taking it all in.

A few months ago this was just an idea. Now it’s real.

Proud of what our team built here. Grateful for the people who believed in it. And if I’m being honest… a little nervous too….but that’s part of building something meaningful.

But moments like this remind me why we started.

Excited for what’s ahead. 🎶
A laundry room designed with both function and mat A laundry room designed with both function and material detail in mind.

For this project in East Falls we used AGT panels for the cabinetry, paired with a solid maple butcher block countertop to bring warmth and durability to the space.

One of the standout elements is a custom vertical pull-out drying rack that we designed specifically for this room. It keeps the elevation clean while creating a practical solution for air-drying garments without adding visual clutter.

Projects like this are a good reminder that utility spaces can still be highly intentional from a design perspective.

Here’s what we’ve learned: when the right clients and the right company find each other, it’s magic. 🙌

Fit matters.
It’s important to find a company that truly understands your vision — and it’s just as important to us to make sure we’re the right fit for you.

When that alignment happens, the results speak for themselves.

If you’re dreaming about a space that works beautifully and feels like you, let’s see if we’re a match.
